North Salem Police Chief Thomas Howley said the sightings began on Sunday, May 26, when a black bear was seen at the PQ Golf Club off Bloomer Road.
On Monday, May 27, the bear was spotted at Purdys' Field around 8 a.m., and was spotted later in the day on Whitter Hill in Purdys, the chief said.
The bear apparently took a day of rest on On Tuesday, May 28, because no reports were called in, but on Wednesday, May 29, it was spotted again on 1st Street in Prudys.
On Thursday, May 30, the bear was seen outside Pequenakonck Elementary School, in the vicinity of Summit Farm up a tree, back at the Pequenakonck Golf Course, and on Great Oaks Lane.
So far today, Friday, May 31, there haven't been any sightings.
